Daily Post 11: New Developments!

Today in lab we have been extremely productive, solving both the issues with the UV light bulb and fixture as well as further developing details in how the design of the water purification unit will operate. Tomorrow there will be a post detailing parts of the new design we have decided to implement.

I contacted the UV light bulb's company and spoke with a representative about the potential issues between the current fixture and their UV bulb. The conclusion seemed to be that it may have been a malfunctioning bulb, since the amount of voltage, wattage, and amperage was confirmed compatible between the two components. I decided, since even then we weren't entirely sure, to purchase a fixture that the company guarantees will work with the bulb, as well as a replacement bulb. It should arrive in 4-5 business days.

Furthermore, we have been advised to consider a method of determining how successful our project is, and are currently doing research on the possibilities we may use. So far, it seems that we can purchase a water testing kit that can test bacteria, pH, pesticides, chlorine, hardness, lead, and nitrates. We believe this may be sufficient, but will conduct additional research to verify that the water testing kit is our best option.
