Filter Media and Case
Filter media will perform primary filteration, mainly focusing on getting out particulate matter such as dirt or sand. The filter media will consist of two layers of course filter media, three layers of fine filter media, and one pound of activated carbon. The filters will be put into a three-gallon water jug.
Ultraviolet Light
The ultraviolet light will be used to perform the task of elimiating the bacteria present in the water. This will happen after the water has went through the primary filter and the larger parts have already been filtered out.
Reverse Osmosis Filter
After the UV light the water will be hand pumped through a reverse osmosis filter. The reverse osmosis filter will filter out the dead bacteria the UV light killed as well as removing all unncessecary ions in the water.
Power Supply and Connections
The power supply for this design will consist of battery that will store the energy recieved by the solar pannel and transmit it to the UV light.
Miscellaneous PVC Pipes and Fittings
The PVC pipes and fittings are important in controlling the flow of water and not letting any get into unwanted areas. This means preventing leaks and making sure none of the components are subject to water damage. Flexible tubing will be used to move water between components.
Frame
The frame for this apparatus will be constructed with angle iron. This is becasue this material is exteremly durable and will have no problems holding everything together. Another benefactor of working with angle iron is becaue it is not a challenging metal to weld.
Miscellaneous other Parts
There are a number of things that will need to be gathered for the production of this device that do not fit into any of the above categories. For instance silicone was used in many parts of the device to seal connections for water flow.so far have been purchased and customized as needed, the budget is expected to be highly accurate. The timeline is expected to be accurate as well, however, we still anticipate potential errors in our predictions.Budget
